Course or one off treatment?

1 to 2

We ask you to return in 14-21 days to assess the outcome, and top up your treatment if the dosage was slightly lower than the perfect dose for you.

Results in

14 days

The toxin works slowly and doesn't reach its full potential for 14 days.  You will not see a significant difference overnight, it will be a series of small, gradual improvements.

Recovery time

0

There is no down time from this procedure. The injection sites may be red for a small amount of time, but this normally resolves very quickly.

Duration of results

3-4 months

If you are new to toxins your first treatment may only last for around 12 weeks, however if you continue to have the area treated the results will continue to improve and will last longer.

Treatments per year

2 / 3

Initially treatment will be every 3-4 months, but most regular users of anti-wrinkle injections find that their results continue to last and that they only need to have the area treated every 6 months or so.

Aftercare for anti wrinkle injections

You will not see a change straight away.  It takes about 2 to 3 days to start working.

Do not massage or rub your face for 3 days, or have a facial.

Avoid vigorous exercise, sunbathing (including using sun beds), and the sauna for 2 days.

Effects usually last for about 3 or 4 months.

If you have botulinum toxin injections again, you should wait at least 12 weeks.

Possible side effects of anti wrinkle injections?

The risks of receiving botulinum toxin injections are very small

when administered correctly by a suitably qualified practitioner (which we are).

You may experience redness, bruising or a small swelling at the injection site.

Some people may develop a headache and flu-like symptoms for the first 24 hours.

Uncommon side effects are:

A frozen look – you might not be able to move the muscles in your face if too much botulinum toxin is

injected, which is why we top up over the two sessions if higher doses are required.

Temporary drooping of an eyelid or eyebrow if the botulinum toxin moves into these muscles.

Our toxin of choice has very little migration in comparison to others, so this is extremely unlikely.

Very rarely serious complications can occur, such as serious allergic reaction.

We are prepared to help you should this situation arise.

Crows feet

Crows’ feet are the lines that fan out from the outer corners of our eyes.  These are usually much more noticeable when you are smiling, and this can be a cause in their formation.  They are very common in people who have lots of sun exposure as we naturally squint our eyes to protect them from the brightness of the sun.

These lines are caused by a muscle that surrounds the eye called the orbicularis occuli.  Some small injections in the problem area can significantly reduce these lines.  The result is no visible crows’ feet at rest or when you smile and squint.

Treating this area is normally the most efficient way of reversing the signs of aging.  It makes the eye area look brighter, fresher, more awake and can reduce the appearance of crepiness in the skin around the eye.

Frown lines

Frown lines are the vertical lines that sit between your eyebrows, they often referred to as the 11’s. These form when you are concentrating or frowning and if left untreated over time permanent lines can appear.

Frown lines appear as a result of 2 different muscles contracting, the procerus and the corrugators. The procerus pulls the skin in between the eyebrows down and can sometimes cause a horizontal line to form above the bridge of the nose. The corrugators pull the eyebrows towards the centre and it is these muscles specifically that cause the 11 shaped skin wrinkles.

Anti-wrinkle injections will dramatically decrease line formation and can clear fine lines permanently in this area. It can also help relieve any tension that is held in this area due to the muscle contracting so often, which can be helpful if you suffer from tension headaches.

Forehead

Forehead lines are the horizontal lines that run across the length of your forehead.  These are common in people who lift their eyebrows often and will become significantly more visible and deeper when the eyebrows are actively being raised.

These lines are caused by a muscle called the frontalis, which spans the majority of your forehead. These muscles pull upwards against the force of the procerus in the frown area, and because of this it is not advisable to treat the frontalis without treating the frown. If the frontalis is relaxed and the frown is left with full power, the brow would be pulled downwards causing a very heavy and unnatural look.

Treating this area is another way to help ease tension headaches and is an area that is treated in our migraine treatment package.
